Shades Of Phoenix is a one-woman run business that consists of Australian owned and made 3-Free & 5-Free hand-blended nail polish and nail care items.
Shades Of Phoenix was launched in Australia on the 19th of January 2013. And soon after launched internationally with mulitple worldwide shipping stockists, stocked in a local Rockabilly store and attended many local markets regularly.
WHAT IS INDIE POLISH?
“Indie” nail polish is a category of brands that are independently-owned and operated, and generally, have a smaller distribution. They are small businesses with big ideas and are full of passion. Commonly they are created, owned and run by one person. This niche is pushing boundaries, experimenting, and making nail polish, in and of itself, an art form. “Indie” nail polish is mixed by hand using varied ingredients.
“Indie” nail polishes are different to normal brands of nail polish. They take a little more time and care when applying, some requiring 2 coats to achieve the best look. Whilst others require another base polish colour underneath to really maximize the look of the polish – these can be referred to as ‘undies’. Most importantly, base coat and top coat with “Indie” nail polishes are a must!
WHAT IS 3-FREE & 5-FREE?
Recently companies have begun removing three elements from their formulas due to health concerns raised from prolonged exposure to these chemicals. The resulting Big 3-Free nail polishes do not contain formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate.
Being a 3-free brand is very important and Shades Of Phoenix are proud to be a 3-Free brand as well as cruelty free. Some of our polishes are even 5-Free (No Formaldehyde Resin, and Camphor) and Vegan friendly.
